0.1.35 Update - Gold and Save Game Fix
Ahoy mateys!
First the bad news, your save file has walked the plank. WHY?! Well, without getting too technical, the way that games are typically saved by Unity for WebGL was not compatible with how itch saves data in your browser. I did try to fix this before launch, but my attempts all resulted in failure. I was using a save system that was created by someone else, and so gaining a complete understanding of their code was a bit of a hurdle. Since the game had been pretty thoroughly tested (10s of hours in the last few weeks by multiple people), I decided to take a risk and just hope I didn't need to make any serious bug fixes.
Welp, that backfired like a poorly loaded cannon. There was a game breaking bug where you could end up with negative a bagillion gold. I couldn't very well leave that be, so I am pushing this update to fix it.
The good news is though, because I felt like such an awful backstabbing mutineer for making you start over, I invested my day into learning the ins and outs of this save system, and implementing a workaround so that I can make updates in the future without your save files getting erased again. To compensate you somehow for your losses, I am also giving you a special code which will reward you with 2000 gold to help you close the gap on what you lost to at least some degree. The code is "OOF".
I also fixed the bug where you could get stuck on the enter code screen if you entered an invalid code.
Anyways, I appreciate everyone who has been playing since launch. Thank you to those of you who joined the discord to report bugs and give feedback, or found some other way to reach me with those bug reports.
Happy Sails!
